Can guests use confetti inside and outside the churches?
No confetti can be thrown inside or outside Ayia Kyriaki church or in the surrounding grounds. This includes rose petals and bio-degradable confetti. However, bubbles are allowed and are perfect for this venue.
This is a directive from the Cyprus Antiquities Department who administer this church.
Confetti at St Nicholas Chapel may only be thrown outside the church.
Hotel chapels and other venues are often more relaxed - we suggest you check when you are booking your venue so that you can give your guests some guidance.
Do I have to be a church goer to have a Christian wedding service?
No, there are no particular Church requirements (e.g. attendance) before we agree to conduct your marriage service. If you have been baptised/christened bring the certificate if you have it. If you are a member of a UK congregation please mention it to the Wedding Priest during your pre-wedding interview.
When and where will we have our church meeting?
Interviews are with your officiating Priest (Wedding Chaplain) and two of our wedding vergers at a mutually agreed time.
Interviews either take place in the Church Office (see location on our contact page) or in your hotel lobby.
Our wedding coordinator will be able to advise you closer to the time of your wedding.
Can I have a Christian marriage service if I have not been baptised?
If you have not been baptised/christened or do not regularly attend a church, you can still be married by one of our Wedding Priests at the location of your choice. Our wish is simply that you should be comfortable with the Christian faith – especially as it is expressed in the Anglican marriage service.
Do Banns have to be called ?
There is NO need to have Banns called in the UK before you leave for Cyprus. The Form B obtained from a Paphos Town Hall (see Legal), substitutes for the Calling of Banns.
Can pushchairs or wheelchairs be taken into the churches and chapels?
There is no access problem at Ayia Kyriaki or St Nicholas' Chapel although we would appreciate being informed if members of your party have mobility problems so that ramps are in place where needed.
Other venues should be checked for access on an individual basis.
Can you arrange photographers and wedding cars or reception locations for us?
No. We only arrange the wedding venue and the ceremony. For other aspects of your wedding day you can either make direct arrangements yourself, or make them through your hotel or engage the services of a local wedding planner.
How long does a marriage service last?
Normally, a marriage service with one hymn and two readings takes about 30 to 35 minutes. If your service is in a church or chapel located outside of your hotel or villa, remember to allow for travel time to and from the venue as well as time for photography.
Can the Anglican Church recommend any particular venue or company?
No. External links on this website are to venues where Anglican Weddings have been performed in the past. They are provided for your assistance, but do not constitute any particular recommendation. The contents of these websites are also outside the responsibility of the Anglican Church.
