There can be occasions when a husband and wife have been married in a civil (non-religious) ceremony but then wish to have their civil marriage blessed by God.
This service follows, closely, the marriage service (e.g. vows and rings can be exchanged) but with the clear understanding that the couple engage in this service as husband and wife rather than bridegroom and bride.
As the title of this service suggests, this is a service of prayer and blessing for the couple concerned. It is always a memorable and moving occasion whether celebrated as a small intimate gathering or witnessed by many friends and relations.
Service times and locations are similar to those available for weddings; As you are already married legal requirements are minimal but if there is any doubt as to the legality of your marriage (for example if your marriage was performed outside of a British recognised legal system) please be aware that this service is not a legal marriage ceremony but solely a service of prayer and blessing of your union. The service mentions you have already married, and cannot give your guests any other impression. Contact the Anglican Church Wedding Coordinator Amanda McCusker to make arrangements. Amanda can also provide ideas to ensure this is a meaningful and memorable day for you both. |
